Last Saturday's meeting

Here's what we talked about at our meeting on Saturday the 16th:

*Our display for December will be TAB member picks--if you didn't make it Saturday and want to add a book for this (or even better, do a review for one), just let me know, and I'll make sure we have yours when I get ready to do the display.  Review sheets are on the last shelves in YA fiction and you can grab one and fill it out next time you're in the library--just give it to someone in Children's afterward.

*This morning (Monday), we finally got the first of our teen computers out and ready to use!  I shared the suggestions of those who came Saturday (book of the month, new releases, link to blog, YA events), with our IT guy, and he said he would be able to include those, hopefully over the next few days.  There are links to the PINES catalog, social networking, music, and homework help (those aren't the exact titles, but that's the jist of it), but if you have suggestions for additional content, let me know and I'll pass it along.

*The Summer 2014 theme is "Spark a Reaction"--if you can think of any workshops, crafts, etc., that fit that theme, let me know--Jeanne and I will be going to the Southeastern Performer's Showcase in early January and can be on the lookout for people who could incorporate some of those into our YA programming--maybe even before summer, if cost and participation would make it worth it. Same goes for topics for the photo or essay contests we do every year.

*There's also a statewide teen video contest for promoting reading, libraries, and/or the summer reading program--the prize is $250 for the library.  It's open to all teens 13-18, and one video can be submitted for each library system.  It needs to be submitted by February 14th at the state level--if you guys want to do one as a TAB, we should have plenty of time to get things together at our meeting on January 11th--be thinking of ideas and bring them with you.

*We've gotten a few more people to help us with the Christmas parade, so I don't think we'll need help with that--but watch for our float if you decide to go :)

*This week (November 18-23)the library is doing Fines for Cans--for every can (can't be outdated) donated, we'll take a dollar off your fines, up to $20.
